Roulette, the ultimate game of chance! People all over the world enjoy playing a game of roulette – the rules are simple and the rewards can be huge if you get lucky. In this short guide we’re going to cover all that you need to know about playing and winning a game of roulette (both American and European version), plus some excellent live roulette casinos where you can play live roulette online from your own home.
What is Live Roulette?
Live roulette is an online, live version of a roulette game. In most online casinos, there will be a video stream of the roulette table and wheel being sent to you. You make bets on the roulette table in the same way you would if you were in a real-world casino – single or groups of numbers.
The amazing aspect of live roulette, is that you can be playing with hundreds or even thousands of other players, all betting on that one roulette live stream. There is also a huge variation in the different roulette tables you can join, from Monopoly Tycoon Roulette at Casumo to Roulette Dragonara at Vegas Hero.
You can play roulette from anywhere as long as you have your laptop or computer! Some casinos even allow you to play live roulette and other live casino games from their app.
How to Play Roulette Online
Here’s the basics of how roulette works and how you can join the fun.
When you play roulette, there are 2 main things to focus on – the roulette wheel and the roulette table. The table is where you place your bets and the wheel is where the action happens!
Numbers on the table correspond to numbers on the spinning wheel. A ball is placed in the wheel, spinning in the opposite direction to the wheel itself. Whichever number the ball lands on wins – if you’ve placed your bets or tokens on the right number, you’ve won roulette!
Placing Bets at a Live Roulette Casino
There are 36 numbers that the ball could land on inside the wheel. That means if you bet on just 1 number, you have a 1 in 36 chance of winning (depending on the version of Roulette you’re playing). These are very low odds.
If you were to bet on multiple numbers, e.g. 3 different numbers, you’d have a 1 in 11 chance of winning. These odds aren’t so low.
Generally, the lower the odds, the larger the prize – but you must remember that the chance of winning reduces significantly too.
Playing multiple numbers is therefore a great way to play and always recommended for beginners. But, you can’t just pick any set of numbers, they must fall into one of these categories:
Even money bets: place your bets outside of the number grid. You could bet that the ball will land on a red number or a black number, for example.
2 to 1 bets: place your bets outside of the number grid but along the row or column. You are betting that the ball will land on a number in that column or row of a dozen numbers. If your bet wins, it is usually doubled.
6 line bets: you bet on the ball landing on a number within 2 lines of neighbouring numbers, forming a block of 6.
Corner bets: betting on 4 numbers that are blocked together on the table.
Street bets: betting on 3 numbers in a line (an entire width of the grid).
Split bets: betting on 2 numbers that are next to each other.
Straight up bets: betting on a single number.
The strategy you pick really depends on the type of roulette you are playing.
French and European roulette has different rules to American roulette. The most noticeable difference is the numbers. On European roulette there are numbers 1 to 36 in alternating red and black, plus a 0 that’s usually in green. If the ball were to land on the 0, you lose all bets to the house.
In American roulette, you have 2 green slots, 0 and 00. This increases the chances of you losing! Make sure you know whether a game of roulette is American or European before you join – as it’s a game of chance, this extra slot will affect your chances of winning a fortune.
Most professional strategies for Roulette rely on not taking too many chances. If you’re playing roulette for fun, then sure, go wild! However, if you’re serious about winning, you can only conquer this game of chance by spreading your bets and being sensible. Not everyone who takes on the house will win.
